Who We Are
Katie Teague, Co-founder
For the past 20 years Katie has worked towards regenerative systems change, as an award-winning documentary filmmaker and as a counselor, coach and wilderness rites of passage guide.
Katie has trained in permaculture, conflict transformation, Prosocial facilitation, and The Work that Reconnects to name a few. She has assisted on the monthlong rites of passage training with the School of Lost Borders, where she also sits on the board of directors.
With a Masters degree in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, Katie’s play/work lies at the intersection of human development and cultural evolution for the emergence of a prosocial, thrivable world space.
Katie lives with the hawks, wild turkey and deer folk on a magical perch in Copper Hill (Floyd County), Virginia.
Ezekiel Fugate, Co-founder
Ezekiel (he/him) is a co-founding director of Deep Belonging, which is committed to catalyzing the transformation of human consciousness in service of a flourishing Earth. In his late 20s, while following a call to regenerate healthy culture, Ezekiel co-founded and directed Springhouse Community School, an intergenerational learning community that includes a day school for students in grades 7-12.
Since leaving Springhouse in 2018, Ezekiel has been working on his PhD in the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), where his research focuses on cosmology and the evolution of experience. He co-teaches a class on panpsychism at Schumacher College in the UK and a course called Nature & Eros at CIIS.
Ezekiel is fiercely committed to creating culture that honors the sacred dimension of the universe, supports the full flowering and liberation of all people, and celebrates joy, beauty, and laughter along the way. He lives with the love of his life and their two daughters on a small permaculture homestead and native plant sanctuary in the Appalachian Mountains of Floyd County, Virginia.
